  • Dedi Motors will import Kawasaki motorcycles in Israel under a new six-year agreement.
  • The deal follows a legal dispute that ended Metro's dual import of Kawasaki and Yamaha.
  • Metro chose to continue with Yamaha and will sell its existing Kawasaki stock until year-end.
  • Dedi Motors' import rights are pending approval from the Ministry of Transportation.
  • Kawasaki sales in Israel were significantly lower than Yamaha's in 2025.

Dedi Motors, a subsidiary of Dedi Vehicle, announced on Wednesday, November 4th, that it has signed a six-year direct import and marketing agreement for Kawasaki motorcycles in Israel. This development follows a protracted legal dispute that forced the previous importer, Metro, to choose between two Japanese brands, Yamaha and Kawasaki. Metro had been importing both brands for years until the Supreme Court rejected Metro's appeal against a Ministry of Transportation decision, which was based on a recommendation from the Competition Authority. The court ruled that Metro could not hold import licenses for both competing brands. Metro ultimately chose to continue with Yamaha and decided not to renew its Kawasaki import license as of June 30, 2026, though it can sell existing stock until the end of December this year. Dedi Motors will now serve as an official, though not exclusive, distributor for Kawasaki in Israel, including electric and hybrid models, as well as spare parts, accessories, and apparel. The company is committed to increasing brand sales, establishing showrooms and service centers, and providing customer service according to manufacturer standards. This move aligns with Dedi Motors' expansion, including its recent acquisition of Dongfeng car imports from Metro for approximately NIS 110 million. Market data shows Yamaha sold 3,851 units in Israel in 2025, compared to only 672 for Kawasaki, likely influencing Metro's decision. For Dedi Motors, this presents an opportunity to grow its two-wheeled vehicle business with a recognized international brand. However, the actual commencement of imports is contingent on receiving necessary licenses from the Ministry of Transportation, which have not yet been granted and are not guaranteed.
