Attorney Michaël Rabello has withdrawn his candidacy for State Comptroller after his initial appointment was annulled by the High Court of Justice. The decision follows a shift in Knesset power dynamics, leaving former Supreme Court Justice Yosef Elron as the sole remaining candidate. Rabello's initial election in June was invalidated by the court due to voting irregularities, including members photographing their ballots. The Knesset Speaker had refused to schedule a new vote, but a subsequent petition demanding he do so was dismissed by the court.

Attorney Michaël Rabello, who was previously elected State Comptroller by the Knesset but had his appointment blocked by the High Court of Justice (Bagatz), has decided not to run for the position again. According to "Kipa," the reason for this decision is a shift in the balance of power within the Knesset. The race for State Comptroller is expected to begin anew. Currently, the sole remaining candidate is former judge Yosef Elron, who competed against Rabello in the previous vote and secured the support of 57 Knesset members. Elron, who previously served as a Supreme Court Justice, had the backing of opposition parties in the prior election.
In June, Rabello was elected State Comptroller with 61 votes. However, the opposition appealed his appointment to the High Court of Justice. The court ultimately annulled the vote results due to irregularities, specifically citing instances where Knesset members photographed their ballots. Following the court's decision, outgoing Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana refused to comply with the ruling and did not schedule a new vote. On Tuesday, November 4, the High Court of Justice dismissed a petition against Ohana that demanded he hold a vote, citing the changed circumstances after the elections as the reason for the dismissal.
