Dozens of local authority heads, including some from the Likud party, have called for Jewish-Arab cooperation. In a joint statement released on Wednesday, they urged the country's leadership to adopt a model of partnership based on mutual respect, civil governance, trust, and shared responsibility.
The signatories stated that the cooperation they practice daily at the local government level is feasible and should be promoted at the national level. This initiative comes amid a backdrop where the Likud party has expressed opposition to Arab parties and the possibility of their inclusion in a government since the last elections.
