  • President Isaac Herzog starts government formation consultations at 5 PM Wednesday.
  • Gadi Eisenkot is expected to receive 48 Knesset member recommendations.
  • Benjamin Netanyahu is projected to have 46 Knesset member recommendations.
  • The United Torah Judaism faction is reportedly not recommending a candidate.
  • The mandate will be given to a candidate with 61 or more recommendations.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog will commence consultations at the President's Residence on Wednesday at 5:00 PM with faction representatives to determine who will receive the mandate to form the next government. The consultations are expected to continue until Thursday evening. The President is anticipated to assign the mandate to a candidate who secures the recommendations of at least 61 Knesset members. If a clear decision is not reached, the President will task the candidate he believes has the greatest chance of forming a government.

Initial assessments suggest that Gadi Eisenkot is poised to receive recommendations from 48 Knesset members. This is based on announcements from the Yish, Yachad, HaDemocratim, and Yisrael Beiteinu factions, who have declared their support for Eisenkot. Conversely, Benjamin Netanyahu is currently projected to have 46 recommending members. The United Torah Judaism faction is reportedly leaning towards not recommending any candidate, which impacts Netanyahu's potential support count. Earlier, the President received the election results from Noam Sohlberg, Chairman of the Central Elections Committee.
