President Isaac Herzog began consultations on forming a new government Wednesday afternoon, following the Central Elections Committee's submission of the final election results. In an unusual move, Herzog is commencing the process with the smallest factions, in ascending order of their Knesset seats. The consultations are scheduled to start at 5:00 PM, with the Religious Zionism-Identity party being the first to arrive at the President's Residence, followed by representatives from Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu.

The meetings will continue Thursday morning. The Likud party is slated to be the last to meet with the President, at 8:30 PM. According to the President's Residence, this departure from the traditional order aims to allow for a broader examination of government formation possibilities, encourage "outside the box" thinking, and explore alternatives for reaching agreements before meeting with the larger parties.
