Carrefour Israel is intensifying its "Carrefour Special Deal" campaign by offering fresh chicken thighs at a significantly reduced price of 9.90 shekels per kilogram. This promotion, valid until November 6, 2026, requires a minimum purchase of 99 shekels and is limited to 3 kilograms per customer. An investigation by ice revealed that Carrefour's price for chicken thighs is the most competitive in the Israeli market, with other major chains like Rami Levy, Yohananof, Victory, and Shufersal selling the same product for prices ranging from 24.90 to 46.90 shekels per kilogram. This represents a price difference of approximately 75%.
The "Carrefour Special Deal" initiative follows the conclusion of the "Israel's Basket" program, which offered 112 discounted products across 55 branches for about six months. Carrefour's current promotion also includes other staple items at discounted prices, such as Mama Chips frozen fries (1.5 kg for 14.90 shekels), Villiger tuna (4x140g for 14.90 shekels), Axe deodorant spray (150ml for 7.90 shekels), Elite "Until Midnight" biscuits (200g for 9.90 shekels), and Hellmann's mayonnaise (684-789g for 14.90 shekels). Additionally, the chain is offering discounts of 30% or more on dozens of other products, including Palmolive dish soap, Bedan fabric softener, Frininiv juice, and Lily toilet paper.
These special prices are available across all Carrefour formats, including Hyper, Market, Mahadrin, City, and Le Marché, as well as online. The "Carrefour Special Deal" prices are contingent on a minimum purchase of 99 shekels from the store's general inventory (excluding the promotional items themselves), with a limit of up to six units per promotional item. Despite the aim to lower prices and increase consumer competition, a review of products from before and during the "Israel's Basket" initiative showed a price increase of approximately 4% at Carrefour. The chain was ranked second most expensive among surveyed chains before "Israel's Basket" and remains in second place, behind Shufersal's "Universe" brand, in the current assessment.
