The Central Elections Committee plenum officially approved the results of the 26th Knesset elections and the distribution of mandates among the parties on Tuesday, following the completion of vote counting and a verification process. The decision passed with 15 members in favor, 2 against, and 14 abstentions. Committee Chairman, Judge Noam Sohlberg, stated during the session that voters determine election outcomes. He emphasized that respecting election results is a cornerstone of Israeli democracy, allowing for peaceful transitions of power since the state's founding. "Political upheavals, surprises, and fierce disputes have never led to an undermining of the basic consensus that election results must be respected," Sohlberg said. "This is a very precious resource for our country. We must handle it with great care. It is easy to break, very difficult to repair."
Sohlberg acknowledged that suspicions raised regarding certain aspects of the election process are under investigation. However, he stressed that at this stage, these are only suspicions and do not cast doubt on the elections as a whole or justify rejecting the results. He urged relevant parties to cooperate to fully investigate the matter. The final mandate distribution is: Likud 27, Yesh Atid 21, United Torah Judaism 12, Joint List 11, Democrats 8, Ra'am 8, Yisrael Beiteinu 7, Otzma Yehudit 7, Yahadut HaTorah 7, Shas 6, Religious Zionism 6, totaling 120 mandates. Following the plenum's meeting, the election results will be submitted to the President of Israel and published in the official records.
