Israeli security forces arrested a Palestinian teacher in his 30s from the village of Tel, near the Shomron (Samaria) region, on suspicion of severe incitement, identification with, and support for terror organizations. The arrest followed extensive monitoring of the suspect's social media activity, which revealed he had been using his educational position for months to spread content that encouraged terrorism, glorified the actions of terror groups, and expressed support for security prisoners.
The investigation centers on a photograph the suspect posted of a monument commemorating the four terrorists responsible for a shooting attack near Tel village, an attack that killed Captain (res.) Bneiayu Melt and Major Yuval Ezra. The monument was labeled "Garden of Martyrs," and the teacher added praise for the terrorists, writing, "May Allah have mercy on you, forgive you, accept you, and seat you in the highest levels of His paradise."
Further social media posts by the suspect referred to the terrorists as "my brothers, my beloved, and my martyr cousins who gave their lives for the homeland, charging forward and not retreating." Additionally, in the days surrounding the October 7th Hamas attack, the suspect published an illustration glorifying a Hamas terrorist arriving via paraglider.
Following his interrogation, the suspect was jailed. Police intend to bring him before a judge to request an extension of his detention for further investigation. Israel Police emphasized their ongoing efforts with all security agencies to monitor and enforce online activity, vowing to take firm action against anyone attempting to inflame tensions, incite violence, or glorify terrorists.
