IDF Humvee Stolen From Southern Base Found a Week Later

An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Humvee armored vehicle, stolen from a military base in southern Israel, was discovered a week later at a factory in the community of Ami'oz, near the Gaza Strip. The theft from the Julis base, located near Ashkelon, was reported on Thursday. Police officers from the Segev Shalom station located the vehicle after receiving intelligence about its possible whereabouts. The Humvee was found hidden on the premises of a packaging plant. No arrests have been made yet, and an investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for the theft. The Times of Israel reported on the discovery. Separately, four female soldiers from the Caracal battalion were lightly injured when their armored vehicle overturned on Highway 10 near the Gaza border. The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital following the incident, which occurred during a patrol. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver lost control due to speeding on a turn. The IDF stated that the injured soldiers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and that the circumstances of the crash are under investigation. The military plans to increase oversight of driving discipline in combat units, particularly in dangerous border areas.
