  • The defense attorney criticized police for wrongful arrest and report fabrication.

Jerusalem police sought to extend the detention of a foreign resident, identified as Feldman, for five days, alleging he threw a stone at officers in the Mea Shearim neighborhood. However, a video presented by his defense attorney dramatically altered the court's perception of the case.

The police representative requested the extension for eight investigative actions, claiming one was susceptible to obstruction, and cited a danger posed by the suspect despite his lack of a criminal record. During cross-examination by attorney Rooey Politi, it emerged that police lacked video evidence of Feldman throwing the stone, and body camera activation was not noted in their materials.

At this point, attorney Politi showed the court a video of the incident via his mobile phone. The footage led the police representative to concede, "After seeing the video, I was convinced it was another person who threw the stone." He explained that the actual stone-thrower had been close to Feldman, leading the officer to mistakenly believe Feldman was responsible.

Attorney Politi strongly criticized the police's actions and the reports filed after the arrest. "It is serious that officers arrested the wrong person and caused him to spend a night in detention, but even more serious are the recording of operation reports and memos that are incorrect and intended to cover up the mistake and justify the wrongful arrest," he stated. "We intend to ensure, through the appropriate authorities, that such an incident does not happen again."
