The Police Investigations Department (PID) announced Tuesday that an indictment has been filed against a police officer who served in the Hebron area. The officer is accused of stealing money and property during operational activities and possessing stolen IDF weapons. The indictment was submitted to the Jerusalem District Court as part of a plea agreement.

According to the indictment's facts, the accused officer participated in operational activities and searches for weapons in Palestinian homes in Hebron and its surroundings, as well as in the Ras al-Amud area of Jerusalem. Between 2022 and 2023, the officer repeatedly abused his authority. During searches, he stole various valuable items from residents, including Israeli and foreign currency, credit cards, checks, gold jewelry, watches, and mobile phones. He also stole a seized mobile phone that was being processed at the Ma'ale Adumim police station.

In December 2023, a search of the officer's home uncovered many of the stolen items. Additionally, stolen IDF weapons and ammunition were found, including an IDF smoke grenade and a 'beehive' of 15 fireworks. The indictment charges the officer with multiple counts of theft by a public servant, fraud, breach of trust, and illegal possession of explosives.

The case joins a series of serious incidents recently investigated by the PID. The indictment was filed by attorney Daniel Arfi of the PID. The incident raises significant questions about the abuse of authority during operational activities and the oversight of police actions in the field.
