Topaz Luk, an advisor to the Prime Minister, published a social media post Tuesday morning depicting leaders of Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) parties as revelers with whiskey and cigars, while Avigdor Lieberman was shown serving them. The post was deleted shortly after publication.
Luk later posted a clarification, stating the initial cartoon was "mistakenly" shared and expressing his deep appreciation for the Haredi public. "There should be no mistakes: I love the Haredi public, I appreciate them and am in warm contact with many of them. To me, they are brothers, partners and an integral part of Israeli society and our camp," he wrote.
He praised the Haredi community's volunteerism and charitable work, calling them "people with huge hearts" who "love the country, want its success and contribute to it every day." Luk also criticized opposition leaders, including Lieberman, Yair Lapid, and Naftali Bennett, accusing them of "politically profiting for years from incitement against the Haredi public." He recalled Lieberman's past remarks about "throwing Haredim in wheelbarrows."
