Hapoel Tel Aviv Leads Maccabi Haifa in Tense Top-Tier Soccer Clash

A high-stakes soccer match between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa delivered drama at Bloomfield Stadium on Monday evening. Hapoel Tel Aviv held a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime, but Maccabi Haifa managed to narrow the deficit to 2-1 in the second half, intensifying the competition.

The game began at a rapid pace, with Hapoel Tel Aviv's Owusu receiving an early yellow card in the fourth minute for a foul on Iyad Hallaili. After a blocked shot from Chico, Hapoel Tel Aviv opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Following a corner kick, Maaymbo's header deflected off Maccabi Haifa defender Tsunami and into the net. The goal was officially recorded as an own goal, despite Hapoel Tel Aviv's claims of a foul by Maaymbo.

Maccabi Haifa struggled to create dangerous opportunities. In the 29th minute, Barazao's cross from the right wing hit Maaymbo and struck the post, with no corner awarded. Just before halftime, Hapoel Tel Aviv extended their lead. Mohamed's dribble on the left flank led to Alcocin, who scored from approximately 22 meters out. The shot deflected off Daniel Dapa, deceiving goalkeeper Glazer and finding the net. This marked Dapa's third consecutive game with a goal.

With Hapoel Tel Aviv leading 2-0 at the break, Maccabi Haifa had yet to register a shot on Tzur's goal. In the second half, Maccabi Haifa coach Barak Bakhar made a double substitution, bringing in Seif and Gura. The team increased pressure, and Gura missed a chance to equalize in the 50th minute. Hapoel Tel Aviv nearly scored a third goal in the 54th minute when Dapa's breakaway was initially stopped by Glazer, but Dapa recovered and rounded the keeper, only for Tsunami to clear the ball off the line.

Maccabi Haifa finally got on the scoreboard four minutes later. Azulai sent Dasa down the right wing, whose low cross was met by Bruninho in the box, beating Tzur. This was the first home goal Hapoel Tel Aviv had conceded this season. The goal sparked a confrontation between players from both teams, resulting in four yellow cards: Koko and Krave for Hapoel Tel Aviv, and Novakovich and Azulai for Maccabi Haifa. Azulai's yellow card was his fifth, meaning he will miss his team's next match against his former club, Maccabi Netanya. Hapoel Tel Aviv coach Barda responded with his own double substitution in the 61st minute, bringing in Lemkin and Kantsapolsky. As of the 61st minute, Hapoel Tel Aviv maintained a 2-1 lead, with Maccabi Haifa continuing their search for an equalizer.
