Police Commissioner Dany Levy has issued a sharp rebuttal to Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, vehemently denying allegations that Levy ordered violence against Haredi protesters. A statement from the Commissioner's office called the claim "baseless, outrageous, and utterly unfounded."

The Commissioner's office did not stop at a denial, directly criticizing Ben-Gvir for what it termed "serious, absurd, and shameful accusations" that "cross all boundaries." The statement expressed disappointment that the minister, who oversees the police, would choose to "slander" and undermine the professionalism and public trust of the officers tasked with security, instead of supporting them.

The statement further emphasized that attempting to attribute a deliberate intent to harm civilians to the Commissioner and police commanders is particularly grave and directly harms the thousands of officers, Border Police, National Guard, and volunteers who work tirelessly for public safety. It asserted that the Israel Police is not a tool for political attacks and that its leadership and officers will continue to act with statecraft, professionalism, and in accordance with Israeli law, without fear or bias.

Finally, the police stated that no attempt to slander the force or its leadership will divert them from their mission and commitment to the security of Israeli citizens. The Commissioner's office directly called on Minister Ben-Gvir to retract his "damaging statement" regarding all police personnel "without delay."
