The Haifa Local Planning Committee has approved a plan to significantly expand Rambam Health Care Campus, a major hospital in northern Israel. The expansion is designed to bolster the hospital's status as a "super hospital" serving Haifa and the entire northern region.

The project will increase the number of inpatient beds from the current 976 to approximately 1,875 by a target year, adding about 900 new beds. This expansion aims to meet the growing medical needs of the area and enhance Haifa's role as a leading medical center.

In addition to more beds, the plan includes the construction of new medical facilities, research institutes, and training centers for medical, nursing, and paramedical staff. A hotel for patients and their families, along with expanded parking, is also part of the development. The hospital's total area will grow by about 5.7 dunams to roughly 101 dunams.

Further plans involve adding building rights and floors, demolishing and preserving existing structures, designing a commercial facade facing the beach promenade, and creating an underground entrance from Hillel HaYam Street directly to the emergency room. The hospital's helipad will be regulated, and a new one will be built on a rooftop.
