Venture capital fund Ground Up Ventures has appointed Navot Volk as a General Partner. Volk has been with the fund since 2023 as an independent partner and will operate from its Tel Aviv offices. In his new role, Volk will lead the fund's operations in Israel alongside David Stark.

Ground Up Ventures, established in 2017 by founding partners David Stark and Kori Moalis, has offices in New York and Tel Aviv. The fund typically invests between $500,000 and $1.5 million in pre-seed and seed-stage companies in the U.S. and Israel. With two funds managing over $65 million, the firm's portfolio includes 58 companies, with an additional four operating in stealth mode. Approximately 20 of these portfolio companies are Israeli.

Notable Israeli companies in the fund's portfolio include defense-tech firm Kela, which has raised around $300 million since its 2024 founding and achieved a valuation of over $1 billion in its latest round. Komodor raised $67 million, and Triple Whale raised $52.7 million. Defense-tech company Covenant emerged from stealth in September, securing $250 million from investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Founders Fund.

Before joining Ground Up Ventures, Volk held senior positions at Microsoft, where he helped build the Microsoft for Startups program, which supported 110 companies that collectively raised about $700 million. He also established a new business venture at Wix. Since joining the fund, Volk has invested in six companies, including Pillar Security, Unit, and Threefold.

Volk stated, "The earliest stage is when entrepreneurs most need someone in the room, before there's a product, customers, or data. At Ground Up, we've built a fund that does exactly that, and I'm excited to continue doing so with David and Kori, now as a General Partner. If you're building something too early for other funds, talk to me."
