According to the ultra-Orthodox publication Kikar.co.il, Lieberman's bride was not informed of the military police involvement and feared her fiancé had been kidnapped, as the officers were in plain clothes and unmarked. The Shas party issued a condemnation of the arrest, calling for the immediate release of the groom so he could continue his wedding festivities. Shas stated this action was a necessary step to "correct the situation and overcome the societal rift."
