A court in Beersheba extended the detention of one suspect arrested in connection with alleged vote-buying for the Ra'am party until November 3. Two other suspects arrested on election day for the 26th Knesset were also brought before the court. One was released under restrictive conditions, while the third was placed under house arrest for eight days. The investigation began on October 27, election day, when three Negev residents were arrested on suspicion of attempting to bribe voters to cast ballots for Ra'am. Police stated that searches of the suspects' homes uncovered envelopes containing tens of thousands of shekels in cash, along with Ra'am ballot slips and other notes. The suspects denied the allegations, claiming the money was intended for aid to needy families through a charity, not for election bribery. The investigation has since been transferred to the National Fraud Investigations Unit, which is continuing to examine the collected evidence. The investigating unit has requested a delay in the implementation of the house arrest order.
