Maccabi Tel Aviv Fans Criticize Goalkeeper Malika After Toto Cup Final Goal

Maccabi Tel Aviv's Toto Cup final match against Hapoel Tel Aviv saw an early goal conceded, sparking criticism of Maccabi's goalkeeper, Ophir Malika, on social media. The goal came from Roi Alukian, who finished a fast break by Hapoel. Fans pointed to Malika's failure to properly cover the near post as the reason for the goal.

Numerous social media posts questioned Malika's performance, with users calling him "very weak," "not a good goalkeeper," and suggesting he is only at a "National League level." Some fans expressed frustration that he continues to be given a starting position, with one user stating, "Malika's gimmick is over, to the bench quickly."

Comparisons were also made to other goalkeepers, with one user lamenting that fans used to mock Miguel Silva, who is considered "three levels above Malika" in shot-stopping and "17 levels above him" in footwork. Another user suggested that Malika is not good enough for a top-tier playoff team and that Maccabi should consider signing a "normal goalkeeper in January." The criticism extended to other players as well, with some posts mentioning errors by Kamara contributing to the goal.
