France Imposes Severe Restrictions on Israeli Defense Firms at Paris Arms Expo

Ahead of the upcoming Euronaval arms exhibition in Paris next week, Israeli defense companies have been subjected to unprecedented restrictions by the event's organizers. The new guidelines stipulate that Israeli firms will only be permitted to display equipment and products exclusively designated for air defense and missile interception. This limitation applies to all display materials, including models, videos, and promotional literature. Local authorities will conduct pre-show inspections of the booths, with any deviation from the guidelines resulting in immediate closure. Furthermore, official representatives from the Israeli government and defense establishment are entirely banned from attending. This incident follows a similar precedent at the previous Eurosatory exhibition, where Israeli products were covered with black sheeting. Despite these restrictions, leading Israeli companies such as Israel Aerospace Industries, Rafael, Elbit, and Israel Shipyards are expected to participate. Defense industry sources indicate that France's actions are not expected to impact overall sales or the general order backlog. Industry insiders suggest the move is an attempt to prevent commercial competition with French domestic industries and to signal Israel as an unwelcome entity. Concurrently, Elbit announced it will unveil an advanced autonomous system for unmanned underwater vehicles at the exhibition, designed for intelligence gathering, protecting maritime infrastructure, and anti-submarine warfare.
