Israeli authorities are investigating allegations of voter bribery and foreign interference in recent elections, with suspicions pointing towards Qatar. The Shin Bet security agency is reportedly examining claims of a foreign state, likely Qatar, attempting to bribe voters. Concurrently, police have arrested four individuals in the Negev region in connection with alleged voter bribery for the Ra'am party. Among those detained were three school principals from Bedouin communities, who were later released under house arrest.

The suspects face charges including criminal conspiracy, offering bribes to voters, distributing illegal ballots, and obstructing the election process. The Likud party is actively challenging the election results, particularly in areas where bribery is suspected. They plan to petition the Central Election Committee to annul results and call for repeat elections in affected polling stations, citing evidence of voter tracking and alleged vote-buying schemes. Likud's legal advisor, Ilan Bombach, stated that the evidence suggests bribery and the exchange of money or benefits for votes, though not necessarily ballot forgery.

Sources from the Bedouin sector in the Negev described a method allegedly used by Arab parties, primarily Ra'am, involving payments of 200 to 300 shekels to low-income residents, including families affected by home demolitions and residents of unrecognized villages. These payments were presented as aid in exchange for electoral support. Additionally, fuel vouchers worth 100 shekels were reportedly given to those transporting voters to polling stations, with sums varying by family size and distribution occurring just before or on election day.

Some residents reportedly view these payments as legitimate economic assistance rather than bribery, with one source comparing the practice to that of the Shas party. The source questioned whether the scrutiny was due to the growing political influence of Arab citizens. On election day, October 27, three Negev residents were arrested on suspicion of bribery and conspiracy. One suspect's car contained envelopes marked in Arabic, green T-shirts, flags, and Ra'am ballots. The defense claimed the envelopes contained aid for needy families, and another large sum found was explained as personal funds. The police appealed the release of one suspect, leading to his extended detention.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Central Election Committee, Noam Solberg, sent a letter to the head of Shin Bet, David Zini, urging an investigation into suspected foreign funding and bribery by foreign entities, believed to be Qatar's attempt to influence the elections. Shin Bet had reportedly been aware of the suspicions and initiated a covert investigation, waiting for funds to be transferred before acting. The agency has declined official comment.
