A family's joy over their 8-month-old son's miraculous recovery from a rare liver disease has been overshadowed by immense emotional, psychological, and financial strain. The infant, initially diagnosed with bile duct obstruction and a severe liver ailment at just a few weeks old, underwent a complex surgery at Schneider Children's Medical Center at two months old. Despite initial hopes, his condition worsened, leading to organ failure and a critical state where doctors told his parents there was nothing more they could do. The parents refused to give up, and the child survived, eventually receiving a liver transplant two months ago, earning him the moniker "miracle child" from medical staff.

However, the ordeal has left the family's life in ruins. The parents, an educator and a scholar, have been unable to work for nine months, resulting in zero income. They are now grappling with tens of thousands of shekels in monthly expenses, including costly anti-rejection medications, special formulas, daily hospital travel, childcare for their other children, and essential psychological therapy for themselves and their children to cope with the trauma. The parents themselves rely on sedatives to manage the stress.

The "silent victims" of this tragedy are the couple's other children, who have suffered from a lack of parental attention and routine during the months spent at their infant brother's bedside. Their academic performance and emotional well-being have deteriorated, and they urgently require therapeutic intervention to address their post-traumatic stress.
