Pollster Shlomo Filber claims Qatar attempted to control the Knesset through foreign funding and improper influence in the Arab sector's elections. Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Sohlberg has ordered the Shin Bet to investigate these serious suspicions. Filber warned that replacing Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana before the probe concludes would make individuals complicit in Qatar's alleged takeover attempts.

  • Pollster Shlomo Filber alleges Qatar sought to control the Knesset via election bribery.
  • The Shin Bet is investigating suspicions of foreign funding influencing Arab sector elections.
  • Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana's position is reportedly under threat amid the probe.
  • Filber warns against removing Ohana, calling it complicity with Qatar's alleged aims.
  • Judge Noam Sohlberg ordered the Shin Bet to examine foreign funding allegations.

Pollster Shlomo Filber stated on Thursday that Qatar sought to take control of the Knesset, amid serious suspicions of election bribery and foreign influence in the Arab sector. Filber warned that anyone attempting to oust Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana before the investigation is complete would be complicit in Qatar's alleged attempts to seize control of the parliament.

Filber's remarks came after the Central Elections Committee Chairman, Judge Noam Sohlberg, instructed the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, to investigate allegations of foreign entities improperly influencing elections through foreign funding. The investigation is reportedly focused on the Arab sector, where a significant increase in voter turnout has raised questions.

According to the suspicions, funds originating from foreign entities were funneled into Israel to encourage voting in the Arab sector. This raises the possibility that this funding may explain the large influx of voters and the high turnout rate observed in the sector. Filber's statement links these alleged foreign attempts to influence elections with the political maneuvering surrounding the Knesset Speaker's position.
