Former NBA player Kevin Garnett expressed strong admiration for Israeli player Deni Avdija, calling him a "superstar" and a near MVP candidate during a podcast discussion with fellow ex-player Matt Barnes. Garnett, speaking on his podcast, highlighted the Portland Trail Blazers' impressive 3-0 start to the season, attributing their success to Avdija's leadership. He noted that the team's resurgence, including the additions of highly-rated guards Damian Lillard and Ja Morant, has put Portland "back on the map."

Garnett emphasized the need for strong guard play in the Western Conference, citing players like Caruso and Castle as examples of intense defensive pressure. He then turned his attention to Avdija, stating, "And we haven't even talked about Deni Boy," and adding that Avdija was "close to MVP last year. This thing is real."

Barnes agreed with the praise but urged caution, stating, "Calm down." He elaborated on the team's dynamics, suggesting Lillard's arrival has eased pressure on Morant and Scott Henderson, potentially positioning Henderson for Sixth Man of the Year. Barnes expressed happiness seeing Morant content and acknowledged Avdija's All-Star status and Lillard's return, concluding that Portland has a "great team" and is "back on the map."

Garnett concluded by stating the Blazers are "built for the future" and have a "superstar" in Avdija, referring to Morant with the term "OG" (Original Gangster) to signify respect.
