A comprehensive reliability survey conducted by the British car magazine What Car?, in collaboration with warranty company MotorEasy, has ranked car manufacturers based on data from approximately 40,000 vehicle owners across 225 models from 30 brands sold in Israel. The rankings consider not only the frequency of reported faults but also the time taken for repairs and their associated costs.
Suzuki emerged as the most reliable manufacturer with a 97.8% score, reclaiming the top spot after seven years. Only 10% of Suzuki vehicles reported issues, primarily with non-engine electrical components and bodywork, with most repairs completed free of charge and within a day. Honda followed in second place with 95.8%, despite a slight drop from its previous win, while Mini secured third with 95.4%, largely due to the strong performance of its Countryman model.
The survey revealed significant surprises, with Alfa Romeo climbing to fourth place (94%) and Tesla ranking fifth (93.8%), showing a marked improvement over the years. Chinese manufacturer MG impressively placed ninth (91.6%), highlighting advancements in reliability among Chinese brands, particularly with its electric S5 crossover, which was named the most reliable family crossover. Kia also maintained a strong presence in the top ten, securing seventh place.
Conversely, luxury brands and Volkswagen Group marques dominated the bottom of the rankings. Land Rover finished last (84.9%), with 28% of its vehicles experiencing issues and 75% of repairs taking over a week. Audi was ranked 29th (85%), Volkswagen 27th (85.9%), and Cupra 25th (87.3%). Mercedes-Benz placed 21st (88.6%), with significant performance gaps between its models, such as the GLE being a major disappointment compared to the E-Class.
