Israeli airlines are delaying flights to Dubai and Morocco due to security disputes and new demands from Israeli security officials. El Al and Arkia have postponed or suspended services to Dubai, while Arkia, Israir, and Sun D'or have halted or delayed flights to Marrakech. The issues stem from security arrangements at Dubai Airport and follow an attempted hijacking of a Flydubai plane.

Israeli airlines are delaying the resumption and expansion of international flights due to security disputes and heightened security requirements. El Al has postponed its flights to Dubai from November to December 15, while Arkia has suspended its Dubai service indefinitely. Arkia also halted ticket sales for flights to Marrakech last week following demands from Israeli security officials, and is evaluating how to continue operating the route.

Difficulties with the Dubai route have persisted for months. Since Operation "Lion's Roar," Israeli flights to the UAE have been prohibited for security reasons, while Flydubai and Etihad continued operating between the countries until the end of September. The dispute between Israeli security officials and UAE authorities concerns, among other things, the installation of Israeli screening equipment and security arrangements at Dubai Airport.

The attempted hijacking of a Flydubai plane on September 30 exacerbated the crisis, raising questions about security checks for flight crews and the operation of flights by foreign companies. Following this incident, Flydubai's flights to Israel were also suspended, and authorities were required to re-examine security procedures. Although El Al and Arkia announced after the incident that they were preparing to resume flights to Dubai, the timeline remains contingent on resolving security issues.

Concurrently, Israeli security officials have introduced an additional demand: to regulate the security system for all flights to Israel and to consolidate Flydubai's flights to Israel into a dedicated, uniform complex. The repercussions of the incident are also evident on routes to Morocco. Last week, Arkia announced the suspension of ticket sales to Marrakech until further notice and is assessing the continuation of already sold flights. The company stated that if a decision is made to cease Israeli flights to the destination, the possibility of operating them through commercial partners will be examined.

Arkia is not the only airline affected by the new directives. Israir has already ceased flights to Marrakech, stopped ticket sales, and frozen plans to expand the route. Sun D'or, El Al's subsidiary, has also postponed the launch of its Marrakech route, originally scheduled for November 16, until at least December 15.
