Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national rescue organization, celebrated its 96th anniversary by inaugurating 96 new ambulances last week at its headquarters in Kiryat MDA, Ramla. The new vehicles, donated by generous benefactors from the United States, Canada, France, Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, and Australia through MDA's global friends associations, will enhance MDA's medical response capabilities across Israel. These ambulances are already contributing to shorter response times for MDA teams during both routine operations and emergencies.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Michel Katorza, President of the European Friends of Magen David Adom Association, and Eli Bin, Director-General of MDA, along with MDA staff and volunteers. Bin stated that the 96 new ambulances join an existing fleet of approximately 2,000 vehicles. He emphasized MDA's continued strength and modernization to meet the evolving challenges and emergency scenarios in Israel, noting that some challenges are unprecedented in the organization's long history.
Bin also expressed gratitude to the international donors and friends associations for their crucial support in enabling MDA to fulfill its mission of saving lives in all situations. MDA operates in close cooperation with various rescue organizations throughout the country, adhering to religious rulings as applicable.
