Gaza Receives Over 75,000 Tents for Winter Amid Humanitarian Efforts

More than 75,000 tents and over 7,500 trucks carrying essential supplies like clothing, blankets, sanitation, and medical equipment have been delivered to the Gaza Strip as part of a winter preparedness program. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced these efforts, which also include infrastructure maintenance and support for the healthcare system.

The tents were supplied through the United Nations, international organizations, donor countries, and the private sector, with over 5,000 arriving in the past week alone. COGAT coordinated the delivery of fuel for wastewater drainage systems and facilitated repairs to the water supply network at the request of international organizations operating in Gaza. Additionally, eight tankers for sewage pumping were approved for the International Committee of the Red Cross.

In the medical sphere, 7,500 tetanus vaccine doses were cleared for UNICEF, along with three mobile clinics for an international medical aid organization. Medical equipment, fuel, and engine oil were also approved for hospitals and medical facilities run by the UN and international bodies.

COGAT stated it will continue to work with the Peace Now council, the UN, international organizations, and donor countries to advance winter preparations and maintain humanitarian stability. Measures are being taken to prevent Hamas from seizing aid intended for civilians. Separately, COGAT reported that 214 Gaza residents and their escorts departed through the Kerem Shalom crossing on Monday for evacuation to a third country via Jordan, a weekly occurrence facilitating departures from the Strip. Since October 2023, COGAT has assisted in the evacuation of over 52,000 Gaza residents to third countries for medical treatment and other purposes.
