As vote counting continues with no clear majority for either bloc to form a government, businesswoman Nicole Raidman, a close associate of Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara, called for national unity on Wednesday. In an Instagram story, Raidman shared the backlash she has faced for supporting Netanyahu, stating she has lost approximately 30,000 followers and faced boycotts and insults. Despite this, she affirmed her unwavering support for her views and urged respect for differing opinions in a democratic state.
Raidman praised Netanyahu, who had secured 27 mandates at the time of writing, describing him as her friend and an admirable leader, the greatest in Israeli history. She emphasized that he is the Prime Minister for all Israelis and highlighted the heavy personal and familial price paid by those close to him.
She then appealed for an end to the division between left and right, hatred, boycotts, and fragmentation, urging mutual respect and unconditional love. "The whole world is against us, and we continue to fight each other from within? It's time for mutual respect. It's time for unconditional love. It's time for national unity! The people of Israel live!"
Raidman's call for unity was echoed by others, including journalist and comedian Hanoch Daum, who urged compromise for government formation. Channel 12 News journalist Amit Segal also suggested that both sides might need to learn to work together. Einav Boblil, Bar Cohen, and Static also joined the calls for unity.
