Cyber Firm Upwind Security Raises $400 Million at $3.8 Billion Valuation

Cybersecurity unicorn Upwind Security has successfully raised $400 million, valuing the company at $3.8 billion. This new valuation represents a significant increase from its previous funding round, which valued the company at $1.5 billion. The funding round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Canapi Ventures and existing investors including Cyberstarts, Greylock Partners, Craft Ventures, Leaders Fund, Salesforce Ventures, TCV, Alta Park Capital, Penny Jar Capital, Cerca Partners, Swish Ventures, and Picture Capital.

Recently, data analytics company Datadog reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Upwind Security for a sum similar to its current valuation, suggesting that an acquisition of the Israeli company may still be under consideration despite the new funding. Upwind Security was founded in 2022 by Amiram Shachar, who also serves as CEO, and his partners from Spot.io, a company previously sold to NetApp for $450 million.

Upwind's technology focuses on real-time threat analysis within cloud environments, moving away from reliance on retrospective static scans. This approach allows large companies to drastically reduce false positive alerts. The announcement follows a period of substantial growth for Upwind, which reportedly quadrupled its revenues in 2026 to approximately $100 million.

The company's cloud and AI security platform integrates the context of cloud workloads, customer APIs, and agents with real-time intelligence. This provides security, development, and DevOps teams with a shared understanding of critical risks and exposures, how to fix them, and how to catch new attacks in real-time. Shachar added, "Security needs to keep pace with environments that AI agents can change at a speed and scale that human teams alone cannot match.
