As the EuroLeague season progresses, Israeli basketball clubs Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv are experiencing divergent fortunes in their power rankings. Hapoel Tel Aviv, aiming for another playoff appearance and a continued presence in Europe's top competition, has seen a significant jump in their standing. In contrast, Maccabi Tel Aviv, with aspirations of a deep playoff run, has dropped in the rankings.

BasketNews recently updated its power rankings after seven rounds of play. Hapoel Tel Aviv, previously ranked sixth, has surged to fourth place, positioning them as potential Final Four contenders. The publication noted that Hapoel has successfully built upon its previous season's foundation, highlighting Elijah Bryant as an MVP candidate and welcoming Amir Coffey's adaptation to European basketball.

Maccabi Tel Aviv, however, has fallen from 13th to 15th in the rankings. The team, coached by Oded Katash, has struggled with a 2-5 record, failing to find cohesion. BasketNews specifically pointed to the difficulties of summer signing Keaton Wallace, who is averaging only 4.3 points with a performance index rating of 3.

While Hapoel Tel Aviv, under coach Dimitris Itoudis, appears to be performing well and is situated higher in the league standings, Maccabi Tel Aviv's struggles are reflected in their power ranking. The season is still young, and both teams will look to improve their performances in the upcoming rounds.
