Israel's Central Election Committee has issued an urgent clarification regarding voting procedures to combat misleading information circulating on social media. The committee stressed that voters must use the official printed ballot for their chosen list, with absolutely no markings, additions, or symbols. Any alteration, including dirt or holes, could lead to the ballot's disqualification, especially if it could identify the voter.
In cases where the official ballot is unavailable at the polling station, voters can use a blank white slip. This white ballot must be filled out by hand using only a blue pen, with the list's letters or its letters and nickname. A blank white ballot or one with only the list's name, but not its letters, will be disqualified.
The committee also clarified that submitting two or three identical ballots in the envelope will not invalidate the vote, and it will be counted as a single vote. However, envelopes containing ballots from different lists or four or more ballots will be disqualified. Voters are also reminded not to place any additional items in the envelope besides the ballot.
The Election Committee urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information and to verify any details before sharing them, as final decisions on ballot validity are made during the vote count. They also advised voters to approach the polling station secretary if they encounter a damaged ballot before casting their vote.
