Avi Haim, the Deputy Mayor of Rishon LeZion, revealed on Tuesday that he is under investigation for alleged sexual offenses. Haim waived a gag order that had been placed on his name, following a request by Kan News to publish it. He was arrested in August on suspicion of rape and indecent acts, stemming from a complaint by a municipal employee. In September, Kan News reported that Haim was also being investigated for allegedly threatening the complainant, reportedly due to statements made during a police confrontation.
Haim returned to his municipal role in September after his restrictive conditions were lifted. The alleged offenses are said to have occurred in his office. He is considered close to the Mayor, who reportedly attended Haim's initial arrest extension hearing.
Haim has denied all allegations, stating, "This is a false complaint, and I am certain that justice will prevail and the truth will be revealed."
