A tragic incident occurred in Jerusalem's Beit Vagan neighborhood where a toddler, approximately 18 months old, passed away after failing to wake up from sleep. Emergency medical services, including Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and "Tzevet Hatzala" volunteers, were dispatched to the family's home following an emergency report of an unconscious infant.
Upon arrival, medical teams found the child in critical condition and immediately began resuscitation efforts. "Tzevet Hatzala" volunteers Shmuel Adler and Elhanan Mamo described the scene, stating, "When we arrived, we were handed an 18-month-old toddler, without a pulse and without breathing. The family said he simply didn't wake up from his sleep." They, along with MDA paramedics, initiated CPR, including chest compressions and artificial respiration.
The toddler was transported by an MDA intensive care unit to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, still in critical condition, with medical teams continuing to fight for his life en route. Despite extensive efforts by medical personnel both at the scene and in the hospital, doctors at the emergency room were ultimately forced to declare the child deceased.
