Hapoel Be'er Sheva Dominates Maccabi Haifa in 5-2 Victory

Hapoel Be'er Sheva delivered a resounding statement of intent, defeating Maccabi Haifa 5-2 in a top-of-the-table clash at Sammy Ofer Stadium. The victory marked Be'er Sheva's fifth consecutive league win, propelling them past Haifa in the standings. After a tepid first half, Be'er Sheva's offense exploded in the second, scoring three goals in just six minutes to secure a commanding lead. Maccabi Haifa, who entered the match with six wins in their first seven games and a chance to prove themselves against the champions, suffered a significant home defeat. Be'er Sheva, needing points to stay in contention for the top spot, increased their total to 19 points, leaving Haifa with 18. This was also Be'er Sheva's fourth straight win against Haifa at Sammy Ofer.

The first half saw limited significant chances for both teams, with the game only picking up pace just before halftime. However, Be'er Sheva emerged for the second half sharp and purposeful, quickly deciding the outcome. Igor Zlatanovic opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a header from a Pedro Amador corner. Four minutes later, Djibril Diop capitalized on a rebound to double the lead after a header from Ghanah was initially cleared by Noam Steifman. Before Haifa could recover, Javon East was fouled in the box by Steifman, and Zlatanovic converted the penalty in the 56th minute, turning a 0-0 scoreline into 0-3 within six minutes.

Maccabi Haifa had an opportunity to get back into the game in the 60th minute when Pedro Brazão was fouled by Amador, but Ophir Marciano saved Bruninho's penalty. Adam Grimberg pulled one back for Haifa in the 77th minute from a corner scramble, but the hope was short-lived. Forson Amankwah restored Be'er Sheva's four-goal advantage two minutes later with a precise shot from outside the box. The defeat was sealed in the 82nd minute when Grimberg inadvertently scored an own goal, making it 1-5. Grimberg scored a second goal for Haifa in the 92nd minute, but it was only a consolation in the comprehensive 5-2 defeat.
