Maccabi Tel Aviv Coach Denies Financial Issues in Player Search

Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Oded Katash addressed rumors regarding the team's search for a new player following Iffe Lundberg's injury, asserting that there are no financial limitations preventing the club from making a signing. Katash clarified that he has not conveyed any messages to the management about the matter, emphasizing his full trust in the team's leadership and efforts to find the right player.

"If anyone understood or wants to use it to say there is a financial problem, or that they are trying to prevent bringing in a player, it is the exact opposite," Katash stated. He explained that the team's owner also has high aspirations and there is a genuine intention to sign a player, with no hidden messages or restrictions. "We just need to find the right player," he added.

Katash's comments come after two consecutive losses for Maccabi Tel Aviv: a EuroLeague defeat to Real Madrid and a 93-90 loss to Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Israeli league. The team currently sits 15th in the EuroLeague standings with a 2-5 record.

Reflecting on the loss to Rishon LeZion, Katash acknowledged it was not easy and the game did not unfold as planned, but stressed the importance of learning from it. He also highlighted the need for consistent energy and positive body language, even amidst a demanding schedule of games every two days.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is set to face Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in the EuroLeague on Tuesday at 9:00 PM, followed by a game against Paris Basketball on Thursday. Crvena Zvezda is currently eighth in the EuroLeague with a 4-3 record.
