Officials from Hapoel Petah Tikva have strongly criticized the events that transpired before their team's 0-1 loss to Beitar Jerusalem on Sunday, calling the situation "unacceptable." The controversy stems from an incident where Beitar Jerusalem fans, who had purchased tickets for the home section, attempted to rush across the field to reach the visiting fans' stands. This action ignited a brawl on the pitch at the Shlomo Biton Stadium.

Hapoel Petah Tikva representatives stated that the club, which was negatively impacted by the events, should not be held responsible for them. They emphasized that Beitar Jerusalem fans initiated the field breach before the game, and this attempt to interfere with their supporters' cheering equipment led to the violent altercation. "It is impossible to disconnect what happened later from the event that led to it, or to obscure the responsibility of those who initiated the breach," a club source said.

The club further argued that these incidents are not isolated but are part of a recurring pattern of disturbances involving Beitar Jerusalem fans at various stadiums. They expressed frustration with the tendency to treat each event as a singular case, ignore the repeated behavior, and shift responsibility to the host club. "The reality in which clubs are repeatedly required to deal with violent behavior from visiting fans and bear its consequences is unacceptable," the source added.

Hapoel Petah Tikva insists that accountability should primarily fall on those who breached the field, disrupted order, and endangered attendees. They believe that making the victimized club the main target for punishment, while disregarding the context and the visiting fans' consistent behavior, would send the wrong message to Israeli football.
