Four suspects from the Abu Ghanem family were arrested on Monday on suspicion of extorting businessman Alon Elgali and his partner. Authorities allege the suspects used threats, gunfire, and grenade attacks to force the business partners' company to withdraw from a construction project.
A grenade was thrown at Elgali's partner's home in Moshav Tseret last Friday. Additionally, two weeks prior, a significant amount of gunfire was directed at Elgali's residence in Ahisamakh.
The suspects' detention was extended by agreement until Thursday. Their attorney, Oren Shashon, stated that his clients are "working people, not from the criminal world" and have provided alibis that require investigation.
