The IDF reported Sunday that its forces identified three terrorists emerging from a tunnel shaft in the Khan Younis area, west of the "Iron Wall" (the Gaza border fence). Shortly after the identification, an aircraft attacked the tunnel shaft and the terrorists, with hits confirmed on the targets. Secondary explosions were observed, indicating the presence of weapons within the shaft. Forces from the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to operate to neutralize immediate threats, the IDF spokesperson stated.
In separate operations, the IDF and Shin Bet recently eliminated two Hamas operatives. Muhammad Halawa, a commander in the military intelligence of Hamas's military wing, was killed in the Gaza City area several days ago. Last week, Ahmad Zahir Fuad Abu-Ouda, an engineering commander in the organization's military wing, was also killed.
The IDF and Shin Bet noted that terrorists have been advancing terror plots against IDF forces and Israeli civilians throughout the war, particularly recently, and have been working to restore Hamas's capabilities while systematically violating the ceasefire. Concurrently, the IDF continues extensive operations to destroy underground infrastructure in the Strip. Forces from the Northern Brigade, under the command of Division 99, and engineering forces from the Southern Command recently destroyed a kilometer-and-a-half underground route in northern Gaza, east of the Iron Wall. This route was identified in an area expanded due to operational needs for protecting forces and communities, and it was a primary consideration for extending operational control in the region.
