A UN commission of inquiry has accused Israel for the first time of committing crimes against humanity in the West Bank. The independent commission, investigating the Palestinian territories, released a report on Monday detailing alleged sexual violence and torture by prison guards and soldiers against Palestinian detainees since October 7. The report includes accounts of a pregnant Palestinian woman subjected to a strip search by female guards who inserted fingers into her anus and vagina. Another instance described guards beating a female detainee and denying her access to sanitation and hygiene.
The commission also accused Israel of continuing its genocide in Gaza.
