A recent trade involving Killian Hayes, who was a candidate to join Maccabi Tel Aviv, has potentially altered his path to Europe. Two weeks ago, Hayes was traded to the Oklahoma City Blue, the G League affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder. This G League trade means Hayes is free to sign with any team and may not necessarily join an NBA team.

Hayes, 25, was considered a potential option alongside Nemanja Nedovic. Hayes has not played basketball since April, having missed both the recent Summer League and any NBA training camps.

In the trade, Oklahoma City gave up a G League draft pick and player Zach Austin to secure Hayes's rights for another year in the G League. This move mirrors past situations, such as Noam Yaakov, who was drafted into the G League but played in Belgium's Ostend league last year.

In the past two seasons, Hayes began in the G League and subsequently found an NBA team. Last year, he averaged 22.1 points and 6.8 assists for the Cleveland Charge, where Yaakov is also expected to play this upcoming season.
