The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday the discovery of a concealed underground well near the residence of a Hamas assailant involved in a fatal attack last Friday. The well, located near the Yehuda Junction close to Hebron, is described as relatively narrow and approximately 15 meters deep. An unidentified electronic device was also found inside and has been handed over to investigators for examination. The purpose of the well and the device remains unclear. This discovery occurred during operations following the attack, during which the IDF searched around 500 homes and sites in Judea and Samaria, primarily in the Hebron region. While underground structures have been found before, subterranean wells are reportedly rare in the area, according to the newspaper. Tunnel networks are more commonly associated with Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The attack on Friday claimed the lives of two soldiers, Ron Yonatan Roytman, 23, from Ashkelon, and Yuval Shai Svilem, 20, from Hod Hasharon. Both were serving in the Home Front Command's search and rescue brigade. The IDF stated that the two soldiers were killed at the Yehuda Junction by two terrorists who arrived by car and opened fire with an M4 rifle and a pistol.
