Just one day before polling stations open, the ultra-Orthodox party 'HaKehel' announced its withdrawal from the Knesset elections. Shlomo Elbaum, chairman of the party and a member of the Bnei Brak City Council, stated on Monday that the party is removing its candidacy.
"The decision comes out of deep responsibility for the people of Israel and their Torah, and out of commitment to the success of the Torah-observant camp in the elections," the party said in a statement. Elbaum also thanked the tens of thousands who supported the party and participated in its primaries.
Despite withdrawing from the election, 'HaKehel' stated it will continue to work for worthy and clean leadership for the ultra-Orthodox public and for public involvement in choosing its representatives. The party urged its supporters to vote in the elections for the victory of the Torah-observant camp.
