Media Personality Slams Celebrity Naming Trends

Media personality Amira Buzaglo has criticized celebrity naming conventions, particularly after Maayan Adam chose the name "Eito" for her newborn son. Buzaglo argued on Channel 16 that famous parents often select unusual names for their children, suggesting that the pursuit of social media attention and validation sometimes overshadows the child's well-being. "Your child is not a coupon! A child is not PR!" Buzaglo stated, emphasizing that a child's name is a lifelong companion and not a tool for generating online content.

Buzaglo specifically cited "Eito" as an example that prompted her criticism, questioning how such a name would be perceived in everyday settings like a kindergarten. She also accused interlocutor Orly Mirkin of ignoring the broader phenomenon and defending celebrity friends. Buzaglo pointed to other celebrity children's names, including Mial, San, and Moon (Sapir Abisror), Lichi, Dominic, and Tana (Marina Maximilian), Tou Prince (Benal and Ortal Amar), Ray, Miley, and Shane (Miran Buzaglo), Kali (Ofer Shechter), and El-Yam (Netta Alchimister), as instances of this trend.

Maayan Adam, however, explained that the name "Eito" reflects her belief in divine timing, inspired by the Book of Ecclesiastes. She shared that her pregnancy was unexpected, especially after being told she could not conceive due to a past cancer diagnosis, and that the name signifies the perfect timing of her son's arrival. Adam also described her son's birth as a "manifesto of timing," occurring as rain began to fall. While Adam views the name as a personal and spiritual expression, Buzaglo maintains that parents should consider the potential long-term impact of unconventional names on their children, advocating for a more thoughtful approach to naming.
