Shefi Paz, a leading activist in the struggle for residents of southern Tel Aviv and a prominent figure in the protest against illegal immigration to Israel, has passed away. The "Otef Station Merkazit" association announced her death. Paz, whose parents were Holocaust survivors and who immigrated to Israel from Poland as a child, dedicated her final years to an unyielding fight for the residents of the older neighborhoods in southern Tel Aviv, advocating for their personal safety and their right to live with dignity in their homes.
Since 2013, Paz was at the forefront of public activism, leading demonstrations and protests, and confronting government ministries, ministers, mayors, and courts. Following news of her passing, Amalia Uzer, Deputy Director of "Otef Station Merkazit," and Yaakov Sala, the association's spokesperson, eulogized her. They described her as a "brave leader, a dear friend, and a woman who was a symbol of determination, dedication, and love for the country." They added that Paz "dedicated her life to the residents of southern Tel Aviv," serving as "the voice of the invisible people, those forgotten behind," and proving that "even one person, armed with truth and faith in their cause, can shake an entire country."
Association officials further stated that Paz sought justice for the neighborhood residents and refused to remain silent in the face of injustice. They noted that she continued to stand tall even when "persecuted, arrested, and sent to prison." While Paz is gone, they vowed to continue her struggle, fight for southern Tel Aviv, and work towards achieving the goals to which she dedicated her life.
