Customer Claims to Find Toenail in Frozen Soy Product at Rami Levy Store

A customer of the Israeli supermarket chain Rami Levy posted on social media platform X on June 29, 2026, alleging she found a toenail inside a frozen soybeans product she purchased from the chain. She described feeling a hard object while eating a salad she prepared at home, which included cucumber, tomato, bean noodles, and microwaved frozen soybeans. Initially suspecting an uncooked noodle, she later identified the hard object as a toenail from a big toe embedded in the frozen soybeans. The customer emphasized that the noodles were soft and hand-squeezed to remove water, indicating the hard object did not come from them but from the soybeans.

Rami Levy responded that the customer had not contacted their customer service, so the company was unaware of the complaint. The chain reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality products. This complaint comes shortly after a recall was issued by the Ministry of Health on June 28, 2026, for cheese-filled bourekas sold under the Rami Levy brand due to suspected metal foreign objects. The manufacturer, Yinon, announced it was retrieving the product from stores following the health ministry's public warning.

This is not the first quality concern reported at Rami Levy. In July 2025, a customer named Daniel found a worm crawling on fresh chicken breast purchased at a Rami Levy branch in Petah Tikva. He described the experience as "disgusting and stressful," returned the product, and received a refund. The recent toenail claim adds to ongoing scrutiny of product safety at the supermarket chain.
