Mohamed Ali Camara, Maccabi Tel Aviv's highest earner and a key defender, has reportedly turned down lucrative offers from top-tier clubs in Belgium, France, and the United Arab Emirates during the summer transfer window. Camara's agent, Nir Karin, revealed that despite some criticism, Camara is a valued player at Maccabi Tel Aviv, consistently playing 90 minutes per game. Karin suggested that the criticism stems from a lack of understanding, pointing to the rejected international offers as evidence of Camara's marketability.
Karin explained that Camara's decision to stay was influenced by timing and financial considerations. An offer from the UAE arrived when the Israeli transfer market was closed, and Maccabi Tel Aviv could not sell a player without being able to sign a replacement. Additionally, French mid-table teams were unable to match Camara's salary expectations, even compared to his current earnings at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Camara, who joined Maccabi Tel Aviv after captaining Young Boys, is currently under contract for another year and a half. His agent emphasized that Camara is very happy and content in Israel. Following a hesitant start to the season, Camara recently scored a brace and showcased strong performance in a match against Hapoel Haifa.
