Maccabi Tel Aviv Won't Profit From Milson's Transfer Despite Contract Clause
More than two years after Angolan player Milson left Maccabi Tel Aviv for Red Star Belgrade, hopes that the Israeli club would earn from a future transfer have faded. Milson, who was loaned in February to Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates, is reportedly set to transfer to the club for 4.5 million euros. When Maccabi sold Milson to Red Star, they included a clause entitling them to 15% of any future transfer fee.
However, the clause applies only to the difference between the original sale price from Maccabi to Red Star and the subsequent sale price from Red Star to another club. Since Maccabi sold Milson for 6 million euros and the upcoming transfer fee to Al Jazira is lower at 4.5 million euros, there is no positive difference. Therefore, Maccabi Tel Aviv will not receive any payment from this transfer, despite the percentage clause.
This outcome ends the club's hopes of profiting from Milson's next move, as the contract does not grant them a share of the total transfer fee but only a percentage of any profit made by Red Star on a future sale.
