A group of families, graduates of the Ramat Gan Hesder Yeshiva, are set to establish a new settlement named "Giv'a Shomron" (Samaria Hill) in the northern Samaria region. The settlement will be located on the grounds of a former IDF paratrooper training base near the evacuated settlement of Sa-Nur. The initiative is part of the "Connection Program" led by the Samaria Regional Council, the Amana movement, and the Settlement Division, aiming to establish 19 new settlements in northern Samaria as part of the "Million in Samaria" vision.

During a tour of the future settlement site, Rabbi Yehoshua Shapira, head of the Ramat Gan Yeshiva, expressed the historical and spiritual significance of returning to the area, stating, "We have waited thousands of years to reach here." Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan addressed the families, emphasizing the opportunity to rectify past disengagements and Oslo Accords. "We have received a second chance for northern Samaria, and we are not missing it," Dagan declared, highlighting the importance of these new settlements for strengthening the region and connecting northern Samaria to the Jordan Valley and other parts of the country.

The establishment of Giv'a Shomron follows recent government decisions regarding settlement in northern Samaria, spearheaded by Minister of Defense Israel Katz and Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich. Dagan presented a detailed map of the area to the families, underscoring the goal of reclaiming the territory, bolstering security, and creating a contiguous settlement bloc. Rabbi Shapira, visibly moved, shared his excitement about participating in the founding of a new settlement, seeing it as a great merit.

The decision to establish the settlement came after preliminary meetings and discussions with interested families. The tour included dozens of families, Dagan, and Rabbi Shapira, along with Rabbi Ben Zion Algazi.
