A regional labor court in Haifa has ruled against Bilal Daher, an accountant who sued the engineering and surveying company he worked for, Lee Engineering and Surveying, alleging it violated his rights. The court found that many of the alleged infractions were actions Daher himself performed while managing the company's finances and administration from January 2018 to May 2024. The company was owned by Nivin Daher, who held 80% of the shares, and Imad Daher, who held 20%. Bilal Daher is Imad's brother. The court noted that due to his familial connection to the owners, oversight of Bilal Daher was not strong, leading to the conclusion that he was claiming faults in the company's conduct that he himself had committed.

Daher claimed he was fired after his office locks and passwords were changed and security was posted. However, the court was not convinced, noting he missed two scheduled disciplinary hearings and that the lock changes applied to the entire company. The judges concluded that Daher abandoned his job before the company officially notified him of his termination, thus disqualifying him from severance pay and advance notice compensation.

Regarding a claim that the company owed him approximately NIS 87,775, Daher presented accounting records late in the proceedings, claiming the debt was much higher. The court rejected these records as they were submitted late, their origin was unclear, and they included data from before his employment. The court favored the company's version, suggesting the transfers were loan repayments Daher himself had taken from the company, calling such employee claims exceptional and requiring better explanation.

Conversely, the court gave weight to the company's records, which indicated Daher owed the company money. His salary for March-May 2024 was offset against this debt, dismissing his claim of unpaid wages. The court also found that Daher, who prepared his own pay stubs, implicitly agreed to a deduction of 35 vacation days. It also determined the company overpaid his pension by approximately NIS 39,481.

Despite the overall ruling against him, the court awarded Daher NIS 15,487 for vacation recuperation pay, rejecting the company's claim he waived it. He was also awarded NIS 5,770 for ten vacation days. The court dismissed two of the company's claims for deductions, one concerning excess pension contributions and another for repayment of half his salary for working at Imad Daher's cafe. Ultimately, the court concluded that the company owed Daher no money, and he was ordered to pay the company NIS 500 in court costs and NIS 3,000 in legal fees.
